Methods and tools for Hydrogen Safety
For the use of hydrogen in current and future CO2-free energy systems, research and tools development are carried out to predict capabilities for instationary, turbulent, reactive hydrogen flows in complex 3D domains. This work is made with a constant mutual feedback between the theoretical/numerical models and the experiments conducted at the KIT facilities. The result of this combination is the building of verified programs, which can be applied to predict hydrogen related physical phenomena in real cases.
The experimental side work is made at the HYKA hydrogen test center, while the main numerical models developed include mainly the CFD code systems GASFLOW and COM3D.
